In Freshdesk, a contact can be soft-deleted or hard-deleted and questions may arise with respect to the data retention when a contact is deleted.


Resolution Path


When a contact is soft - deleted, the user is still present in the Freshdesk database, and information w.r.t this user is retained.


A soft - deleted contact can be restored anytime.


But when a contact is deleted forever (hard-deleted), all the information with respect to this contact will be completely purged from the database and no trace would be left behind. 


The process of removal of data is immediate but could take upto several days to be completely removed depending on the amount of data associated with the account that is present.
